BMW X3

Currently 40% of vehicles sold by BMW worldwide are diesels. The 355d is headed to the U.S. for 2009 and the BMW X3 could be the next Diesel to follow. The X3 2.0d is powered by a 2.0L Diesel putting out 177 horsepower and 258 ft-lbs. of torque. The 2.0L also gets great fuel millage at 43.5 mpg combined mpg with six speed manual. There is also a larger 3.0L, that you get with the X3 3.0d. This engine produces 218 horsepower and 368 ft-lbs of torque. with a combined mpg of 38.2 mpg with the six speed manual. Both of these would do well in the states but I think BMW should bring over the 2.0L to compete with the VW Tiguan with the 2.0 TDi bluetec engine. That would be a tough choice. This is a match up we could see in the next 1-3 years.
