2010 Honda CRV Diesel

Honda is planing several Diesel models for the United States in the next few years, one of them is Honda’s entry level SUV, the CR-V. It will be using the 2.2L i-CTDi engine. This four cylinder diesel is already used in Hondas in Europe, and is used in cars like the CR-V, Civic, and Accord. It produces 138hp and 250lb-ft of torque. The European version of the Honda CR-V diesel gets a Combined 36mpg, making it one of the most fuel efficient compact suvs you can get. With fuel cost being so high right now and showing no signs of dropping, this diesel CR-V will find a lot of happy new owners here in the states. In 2007, this 3rd Generation CR-V was the best selling SUV in the U.S. The base price of a CR-V at the posting of this article is $20,700. The diesel will be a little more expensive I’m guessing in the $24,000 range. It will be a direct competitor to the Volkswagen Tiguan.

I wish that Honda is planning on selling Diesel models a lot sooner than planned. I think that Honda should put Diesel engines in some of the Honda models line up early 2009 to mid 2009 due to high gas prices. Gas prices may be felling today but its still high compare to ten years ago. I would buy a Element or a CRV today if they both have a TurboDiesel. I hope that Honda reads this message and realize that they need to sell them sooner than planned.

I agree with diesel CR V. We just bought 2008 gas EX and love it. ALSO IF HONDA reads this why not build pick up truck with 5 foot bed on CR V frame and put that with a diesel also.

If 2009 / 2010 diesel CR V will buy even in say 2000 bucks more.

I just returned from Germany where I rented a CRV Diesel from Avis. Incredible car, great power. This model had the six speed manual. I was on the Autobahn and I cruised at a conservative 80 mph and the engine had lots more go to it. The German version is geared tall. Fourth gear is good for almost everything. Fifth and Sixth are for the 140 kph cruising and above. I would like to see a Diesel in the new pilot, I would buy one tomorow. I currently have an Expedition for my wife after we traded in our 2006 Pilot. The newer Pilots are better but the Diesel would make it the Number one selling SUV in America overnight. It is depressing coming home and looking at all of the crap products coming out of Detriot and the domestic import market. In Europe many cars get 30 + mpg in the US it seams that we have a few and most of those are hybrids.
