2009 Hyundai Veracruz Diesel
Developing hybrids is a expensive endeavor for Auto manufacturers. A more cost effective way of building very fuel efficient cars is to build diesel engines instead. Hyundai is currently working on making their new 3.0L V6 turbo diesel, 50 state legal. They want to have a Hyundai Veracruz diesel at dealerships for the 2009 model year. The Veracruz is Hyundai’s high end crossover vehicle. Another Hyundai model that we could see this V6 diesel in is the Santa Fe. Sense Hyundai and Kia share engines in certain models you might see them available in the Kia’s suvs. If everything goes as planned with the engine development we will see them in 2009, but if it is delayed expect to see them in 2010.

I am a proud owner of a 2008 GLS 3.0L V6 Turbodiesel engine with 260hp. I have owned the car for one year and have no complains so far. Engine is very responsive and fuel comsumption is moderate for such a big car (around 22mpg in the city).
