Mercedes-Benz C-Class Diesels

The C-Class Diesels are over in Europe for now, but they should be coming over soon (2009-2010). Mercedes will be having two Bluetec Diesels 50 state legal, at least one of them will find it’s way in the C-Class. The two engines in question are the 2.2L four cylinder in the S300 Bluetec hybrid, and the V6 in the E320 Bluetec. The 2.2L Is the engine that they have shown in the C-Class at the Auto Shows. It puts out 170 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque while getting around 40 mpg. Now that’s a very practical set up for a entry level Mercedes-Benz. Another option that could become available is the V6 Bluetec (210 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.) with the 7G-Tronic seven-gear automatic transmission. Something Mercedes could do is have AMG Work their magic and tune the 3.0 V6 Bluetec. Then customers would have a option to get a “C35 AMG Bluetec” for example. Diesel performance cars might be a demand in the near future, just check out the BMW 335d. The last C-Class Diesel sold in the U.S. was in the 190E, built from 1984 to 1993.
