The new Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen has been out for about a month now, and TDi diesel models should be arriving at a dealership near you this month (August 2008). The TDi is available at the SEL trim Level and the base price is $25,990. VW has high hopes for the Diesel version of the Sportwagen, they are estimating 40 to 50 percent of the Sportwagens sold will be diesels. With the extremely high resale value of used Jetta diesels, I’m sure that they will have no problem selling the new TDi models. Now I find the VW Sportwagen is a very attractive car. I think the exterior design is on par with the more expensive Audi A4 wagons. Powering the Jetta Sportwagen TDi is the 2.0L diesel, that produces 140 Horsepower at 4000 rpm and 236lb-ft of torque at 1,750-2,500 rpm. You can choose between a 6 speed manual and a 6 speed automatic. EPA rated at 21 City 31 Hwy. but in the real world I would expect to see higher numbers. Exterior options cargo roof racks, and lots of styling upgrades. Lots of options for wheel styles and sizes (17″ and 18″). If you are interested in all the options I’ll put a link below so that you can see for yourself. I decided to build one and with most of the options It the price went up to $35,867. I think that this will be a great car for anyone to buy, it has a nice clean efficient diesel and nice styling.
