2009 VW Tiguan TDi

When the First Concept for the Tiguan came to the U.S. it had VW’s new 2.0L Clean TDi engine under the hood. So its no Surprise we will be able to buy a Diesel Tiguan with that same engine soon. With the addition of the Tiguan to Volkswagen’s line up, they now have a answer to other Compact suvs like the Ford Escape, Toyota RAV-4 and the Honda CR-V. Also with this new Tiguan they will be the only compact suv offering a Diesel engine for 2009. This 2.0L diesel is the same engine that VW is putting in the Jetta. It produces 140 Horsepower and 240lb-ft of torque. The U.K. version of the Tiguan TDi is pulling off a combined 32.6 mpg. The VW Tiguan Starts at $23,200 but the TDi will be higher, I’m guessing around $25,000. I have two videos below for you to check out. The First one is a review of the Australian version of the VW Tiguan TDi. Its almost a nine minute video so if you don’t watch the whole thing make sure to check out the parallel park assist function, it starts around the 5:00 minute mark. Its a pretty impressive system.
Here is the second video showcasing the VW Tiguan in off road, snowy conditions.

[...] of these would do well in the states but I think BMW should bring over the 2.0L to compete with the VW Tiguan with the 2.0 TDi bluetec engine. That would be a tough choice. This is a match up we could see in [...]
