VW 2.0 TDi Bluetec
Mass production here we come. Remember the 1.8t it powered everything from a Passat to a Audi TT Quattro. If Diesels really start selling well I have a feeling Volkswagen’s new 2.0, 50 State legal Diesel could find it’s way powering most of VWs line up as a Diesel option. It’s already confirmed for the Jetta and Jetta Sportwagen, but we could see it in the Rabbit, Tiguan, Passat, and maybe even a new pick-up truck. Even Audi could be seeing it in the A3 and A4 engine bays. The new power-plant will probably be a popular engine swap for older VWs like the classic Rabbits, Golfs, Caddys, and Jettas. It provides excellent power 140 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque, and fuel economy. Some people are predicting 30% of Volkswagens sales will be Diesels by 2012. You might just get used to seeing the 2.0 TDi badge on a lot more VWs.
