2010 Volvo S40 D5

The popular Volvo S40 will be getting a overhaul for 2009, and plans for a diesel model in 2010. The diesel engine offered is Volvo’s D5. Aluminum block and cylinder head, double overhead cam, 20 valve, and common rail direct injection. It will be generate around 185 horsepower and 295lb-ft of torque. No word yet on the Mile per gallon statistics. There is also talk that Volvo will discontinue the S60, and merge both the S60 and the S40 into a car that will be in direct competition with the C Class Mercedes-Benz, Audi A4, and the 3 Series BMW. Since Ford owns Volvo, this D5 Engine could find its way in Ford Passenger cars and SUVs.(Maybe even the Ranger) Another Volvo getting this engine for sure is the Volvo V50.
